Tuesday's Treasures

Clare is hosting Tuesday's Treasures and I thought it would be fun to join in. I thought, since I'm at work, I'd show you some of the tools of the trade I've had along time. They're sort of treasures. My calculator is 20+ years and still does the job. I'd be lost without my scale ruler and trusty pencil. I have to hide the pencil though as these type tend to go walkabout. Last but not least, my computer mouse, well worn from many hours of computer work.

I do like it when I get out in the field, get away from the desk and get a bit of fresh air and get to see some machinery at work!
It's a far cry from doing embroidery don't you think!
If you'd like to join in with Tuesdays Treasures pop over to Clares Craftroom.

Just in the nick of time!

Talk about cutting it fine, I've got a few projects to add to my June list for the OPAM challenge.
These projects, both Marg Low designs, are samples I've made up for the Quilted Crow.
The first is "Aunt Ivy's Sewing Basket"...
it includes, a scissor keep, pincushion, needlecase and a cute little basket.
and the second is two more "Dressy Hangers"
wouldn't they make the sweetest gift and they're pretty quick to whip up.
Thank-you to my Mum who helped me out too.
Now talking about The Quilted Crow, they're having a sale so be sure to pop by, it ends the 1st July!

This is the charming block of units Helen, Fee and I stayed in our last night in Sydney.
We can laugh about it now but I felt bad since I booked it!
Here's some lovely snaps of Sydney sites on the most glorious of days...
Sydney was celebrating the world cup at Darling Harbour...
even the lights had been decked out especially for the event
Just look at that blue sky!!
and here's the three of us all squeezing into a frame.

Woman gone crazy!

I have a confession to make, I'm addicted to fabric. I went a wee bit crazy at the show and purchased all these lovelies with no project in mind other than the need to bring them home with me and have them in my stash. Fee will even tell you that I had to borrow some money just to get one bundle.
Left to Right: Boutique, City Weekend, Hope
Front: Flower Sugar
but I didn't stop there, I bought yummy jelly rolls too
Lily and Will, Bliss (multiplied by two, yes I have 4 in total)
and these two beauties
Natalie Bird's new book - A Thankful Heart &
Anni Downs' new book - In the Life of a Bag
Now to start planning where and when I'll use all my pretties! Any Suggestions????

Next post I'll show you the charming accommodation we stayed at for one of those nights away and some of the sights we experienced in Sydney!

Sydney

Helen, Fee and I had a great time in Sydney. The Pattern Press stand looked fabulous
Wattlebee, Chitter Chatter, One Red Robin
The Quilted Crow, More Wattlebee
and Hugs 'n Kisses.
Not shown in these photos but also on display were Miss M, Embroideroo and Monica Poole's Samples. Monica had a stand right across from us and I spent alot of time admiring her gorgeous clothing samples and wishing I was as thin as her mannequins.
The show was also attended by many Aussie designers including Lynette Anderson, Annie Downs, Natalie Bird, Natalie Ross, Kerry Gillespie, Sue Daley, Rosalie Quinlan, Teddlywinks, Nikki Tervo and I bet I've left someone out.
Lots of great new products out there that will be hitting your favourite shops soon and some gorgeous fabric lines too, not to mention books and patterns from our talented Aussie designers.
Next post I'll show you my many purchases but bloghop your way to Fee's blog for more photos and she's going to tell you soon about our 3:45 am wake up call on Monday morning. It was a crack up!

Thursday 10 June 2010

We had a chilly night last night, first dump of snow for winter fell on the mountain  hill (compared to other countries). It's a lovely sight though. This picture is taken from my employer's depot yard.
So what's a girl to do on a chilly night...STITCH!
a bit of progress made on Life is Beautiful!

Goodies, goody , goody, yum, yum!

Look what I received in yesterday's mail! Gotta love a postie that brings this to your door!
The gawjus Kellie, from Don't Look Now sent me this wonderful prize! A kit to make her "Wish You Were Here" cushion. I read all the instructions last night but I'll have to do this after my little trip away.
Thank-you Kellie, it's an awesome prize! I'm working on people to get you down here to Tassie for a workshop, we'd have no problems filling a class!

A finish, a start, a win and a trip!

It was a rather chilly weekend in Hobart, perfect stitching weather. I finished off another sample for The Quilted Crow. This project is another Marg Low sweety called Vintage Stitchers Sampler.
I've almost completed a sample of Aunt Ivy's Sewing Basket too, but I'll show you that when it's done.
I've finally made a start on Helen's Life is Beatiful Quilt, I'm using Rural Jardin fabrics and the stitchery background is from the Rouenneries range.
I was very lucky to win a gorgeous Prize from Kate, Stitched With Love.
Kate sent me this gorgeous bundle of FQ's, they go so beautifully with some other FQ's I have stashed away so they'll be ending up in a quilt. Thank-you Kate!
My Gardener's Journal block for June just needs assembling.

Friday will see Helen, Fee and myself winging our way to Sydney for The Quilt and Craft Expo (Trade Only Event). I'm looking forward to a weekend away with stitching friends and being amongst it all. So if you're going to be there stop by The Pattern Press stand and say gidday!
